Todays racing was held in very sunny conditions with light easterly breezes.  Race Officer David Strack laid a triangular course with separation marks at the top and bottom legs.   We achieved 9 heats and used the 123 system in which the fleet was divided in 3, starting at 0,   50secs, 100secs with each sailor staying in his allocated fleet for the duration, so it was difficult to see who was in the running for podium places until the computer divulged its secrets after the racing was completed.

Most of the day went swimmingly, but there was a slight delay getting underway due to the fleet waiting until a particular member who locked himself  in the toilet, was helped to freedom by other members who were very sympathetic.  The name of this individual will not be released by me due to privacy regulations.  I’m pretty sure that was a first at the club.

Even though there were 3 distinct fleets with a maximum of 7 in each heat, there were still plenty of  comings together, most of which were amicably resolved.  The glaring sun made it quite hard to see at times, especially at the norwest end of the course.  Nice biscuits at days end were enjoyed by all.

Congratulations to the podium achievers.  Glen Church  Assistant RO.
