Greetings all,

Before I launch into the explanations of yesterdays race, I beseech you to study the photo of yesterdays winner on the results. Do you not see a face with a grin of self-satisfaction, no more than that, a grin of superiority, and yet more, a grin that encapsulates a message of……….aha, I’ll show you what a vJ can do,and further, if you think you can put me on a 0 MF and get away with it, I’ll take advantage of that, and yet further, tsk, tsk, how kind of you to still keep my MF at 0”. After all this observing, it makes me wonder if I missed my profession, surely a psychologist would have suited me better than a signwriter. How Al has remained on 0 defies explanation, because he is a competent sailor in any fleet, but I will give this advice Al…….your days of rampaging are numbered, you will be brought back into line, then lets see if your grin changes tsk, tsk. One last word on this subject, congratulations Al on a wonderful performance.

Our race committee was Colin Freeman and Nick Richardson and as is usual for our race committees, handled everything professionally, but I should comment that this is probably partly due to the assistance of family member George Richardson, whose unwavering attention to the edge of the lake and incessantly wagging tail was an absolutely necessary atribute. In my opinion the wind was terrible, but then swift oscillations and dynamic shifts have never been my forte, I suspect my thought processes are too slow to keep up with such high energy changes. The day was nice but the shifts, lulls and gusts were unpredictable and I must be right because as Sailing Master, my word goes. Those conditions caused lots of protest hails, but none were lodged officially and we had a Mark Foy start which showed who could handle those conditions best. Therefore, in addition to the aforementioned Al, congratulations Chris Greer and Ralph Biggs for attaining the podium.
