Pete Bradley assisted by Rodney Ford. Drizzle, cold Southery wind, thick cloud and no sign of the sun. These were the conditions that we woke to. Many skippers kept looking for a cancellation email! But the racing went ahead anyway. There were 8 boats entered. We were all wrapped up to keep warm. The southerly wind determined the course layout: A buoy at the top and one at the bottom. With only 8 boats, we chose a mass-start instead of the scheduled Mark Foy.
Racing was intense with many duels. The patchy wind allowing many changes of position. Violent gusts making rounding the marks difficult. The podium claimed by Polly Parratt CJ333, Ron Bedyn VJ007, and Derek Kraak CJ308.
After being out in an unpleasant cold Southerly wind, we were all looking forward to a hot cuppa with biscuits – but there were none! Your RO team totally forgot. We were forgiven and will make amends in the future. Rodney Ford & Pete Bradley.
