Here is Ron Bedyn and Nick Richardson’s Report from today’s intense but entertaining day at the lake: 16 boats attended club racing this afternoon, they were greeted with an often oscillating and fluctuating NE breeze.
The course was a gate at mark 1 and marks 2 and 3 taken to port, racing started with 2 laps then moved to a 3-lap bonanza allowing those starting off the gun to break away into clear air. Starts were clean with only a few misdemeanours throughout the days racing. Banter took the form of encouragement but sailing consistently was the order of the day.
A number of people placed in the heats and even Polly managed to get to the front on more than one occasion. Enjoyable racing to watch and follow, feedback regarding the course was positive and the long windward beats were appreciated.
Being an older vintage of men the after race function consisted of tea and biscuits while Tony Taylor’s time was taken up by looking for the keys to his car which he found in the car waiting for him, just as well we are a gated community, also Roger lost his hearing aid and fortunately his eyesight is better than his hearing as he found it on the ground unscathed, we wondered why he wasn’t responding to penalty calls. Always great fun to share time with you blokes at the lakes edge, enjoy sail GP. Regards Ron and Nick
