Today the weather was forecast to be strong easterly winds and only 13 members braved the conditions. Peter Fisher and Bryan Treleaven were the ROs, after Ron Bedyn had to pull out at the last moment. Peter Bradley is shown as the assistant RO but Bryan kindly took over his duties.
Tom’s widow, Thysje, paid a visit and was warmly welcomed and this allowed a number of members to talk to her. Thank you Thysje for making the effort to be there. It was very much appreciated by all.
With an ENE wind prevailing, a course was set with two marks well down the lake towards the bay with a wing mark off the end of the start / finish line and two marks at the western end. The course was designed to try and avoid contact between boats in the very blustery conditions. Sailors found the conditions challenging, particularly on the downwind leg, with many boats broaching, and at the bottom mark some boats were completely out of control. We had 4 different winners in the seven heats with Dayele finally getting better control in the last three heats to come out the winner. The podium was completed by Peter Bradley and Michael Inns.
