With the below average weather over the last week, the weather gods decided to play ball and a southerly breeze with clearing skies appeared. The Race officers, Cliff Bishop ( RO ) and Murray Pearce ( RA ), with a steady southerly, laid in a long semi triangle course with two laps. One and 2 marks were set at 4 boat lengths apart. number 3 mark also had a 4 boat length marker. As the heats progressed the southerly began to lighten and the heats were reduced to one lap.

The racing was sailed in good humour and penalties completed when required, though midway through the race the RO had to remind the sailors to not cross back over the finish line after they had finished or risk changing their position.  It was safe to say that both Race officers sailed perfect races all day, never missed a rounding and had boat speed to spare. In fact, they finished so far ahead in some heats they had time for a cup of tea!

It was good to see Anzan turn up and later on Nick for a chat and a cuppa. Nick helped retrieve the buoys at the end of the day so earned his cuppa, he was also dressed in a collar and tie with white shirt which made us think that would have been the standard dress back in the day.

Both race officers agreed this should be the dress code for all race officials and committee members when lakeside on race days from now on to bring back a bit of style 🙂

Congratulations to the podium winners. Al Ross
