Another gorgeous day for sailing today, sunny and a light breeze, that set in nicely by the end of the day.  Race Officer Peter Bradley and Assistant Graeme Raxworthy were very efficient and organised a nice rectangular course for us.

20 boats, so 2 fleets were in order, and a suitably tight start line kept everyone paying attention.  Starts were highly competitive with lots of calls being made and (generally) obeyed. Being first around the first mark was really important, but still didn’t guarantee the lead all the way.

Personally I continued to have some good starts but slipped back through the fleet too easily after a bad decision here and there, although I think I had my boat going better. Lately I have been trying to improve my golf game, but it seems that it is like sailing, the harder you try the worse it gets… sigh.

Thanks Pete and Rax for a great day, and for being diligent. When I arrived, they were both immersed in the detailed instruction manual for the computer, and managed to get everything right! Well, only just. They did learn that it is best to take the big battery with the laptop otherwise the dreaded ‘Low Battery’ message will come up. A tight finish for them too. The biscuits were apparently really nice too, although by the time I went looking the best ones were all gone. Our members are so competitive….

Congratulations Ron, Ralph and Polly for podium finishes. There were many winners so it was not obvious who was taking the lead, especially with the 2 fleets.

And after some anxious moves, we got the results out for your examination and enjoyment. Attached. As before, the MF times may not reflect up to date scores, but will soon be accurate. The more often you sail, the more accurate your MF time will be.

See you next time,
