Dear Members. What a beautiful day for today’s racing…. Warm with a wind varying between Nor’east and Sou’east…. And from 5km/ hr to around 20 Km/hour. With Electric Avenue blasting out over the lake, it was hard to hear each other, so we had a great opportunity to test the maximum volume setting on the starting unit, to try and ensure that the guys could hear the countdown to their start.
So with our starting sequence at maximum volume, we could clearly hear Tom’s voice thundering out during the starting sequences, which we think contributed to most sailors to behave, and with just a few exceptions do their penalties….
Of the 13 starters, ten started on 60 or 90 seconds in the Mark Foy start, so were jostling for position around the course, whereas the early starters got great clear air, and were at the front of the fleet for most of the way. Well done Roy, Peter Fisher, and Ralph for Podium results.
Race Officer today was young George, assisted by Dayele, and they managed to squeeze in 8 heats around a triangular course. Dayele & Peter F.
