CLUB RACING 1 FEBRUARY 2025
Today began with a touching ceremony to celebrate the life of Sailing Master Tom Arthur who passed away earlier in the week. A minute’s silence was followed by several moving tributes by club members and the release of white roses into the lake. The flag was half mast.
The racing was Relay format, with teams of three (one of two), each boat doing a single lap of a rectangular course. Time was based on the last boat from each team to finish. The weather was perfect, a light, not too shifty easterly, and the behaviour was good overall. Race Office Ralph Biggs excelled again in this format, supplying coloured pennants for each entrant, and doing a perfect job of scorekeeping, assisted by Dayele Hobson.
The racing was close, with many lead changes, and it was great to see team members working together advising each other on the finer points of sailing. Not always successfully…. Congratulations to Ron, Bob and Cliff for the overall podium, 4 firsts and a second making them hard to beat!
