Today’s RO was Murray Taylor, assisted by Colin Freeman. What a great job they did in formidable circumstances.

The forecast was for light easterly changing to light southerly right on start time. What we got was light to nothing from all around the compass.

17 boats in the fleet, so Mark Foy was called and the course was a large trapezoid with gates instead of rounding.

This added to the randomness of fluffy wind shifts, big holes and a large fleet.

As a participant I can vouch for the mixed fortunes- such as being overtaken by most of the fleet after leading for most of a race.

The heats were taking quite a while for 2 laps, so the course was shortened to one lap for the last 2. That made it nigh impossible for the back starters to catch the front, but the weather was nice and the spectators were amazed so it didn’t really seem to bother anyone.

Behaviour was good, just one protest needed to be sorted out and this was done satisfactorily.

The computer somehow managed to refuse to record Heat 6 so the results don’t show my personal brilliant performance in that one. It has recalculated the MF times though, but we don’t have that file for you. You will find out next time you register.
