On Saturday 20th we had 21 entries to the Norm Hill Memorial which was very well managed by the Race Officers Rod Liddy and Colin Freeman.
Following discussion around the course setting, it was decided to lay out a triangular course in anticipation of the forecast northerly/north east which arrived almost on time allowing for a start time of 1.30pm. The race format was Mark Foy which worked very well with most heats being completed in 15 minutes and the applied handicapping made all boats very even.
An interesting observation was made that the same event held in 2024 was won by one of the youngest club members whilst this years event was won by one of the more senior club members, and very deservedly so. The event was sailed in good spirits with only minor disagreements over who is right and who is wrong but all was sorted on the water.
By 3.30pm 7 heats had been completed to coincide with a change of wind direction and temperature so a hot drink and chocolate biscuits were very welcome by all. Rod Liddy.
