Race Officers Rodney Ford and Glen Church had been concerned about the weather forecast of storms, high winds and rain. But the day turned out beautifully, in fact heat 1 was almost becalmed – but then the oscillating winds began to blow across the lake. The course set was linear, up and down the lake, with a pair of marker buoys at each end. This reduced tangles and also opened up the whole lake to sail in. Also, it avoided the farest buoy being too far away to see! There were only a few collisions, and most penalties were honoured.
There were 21 boats, and a 1,2 & 3 fleet start was adopted, with 7 boats split into 3 fleets, with a 50 second spacing at the start. Again, this reduced congestion on the water. There was some close racing. However, Ron Bedyn, Graham Parratt, and Bryan Treleaven made the podium! Well done. Thanks for all of the helpers, appreciated.
