Cold south westerly winds started the day but became lighter with lots of holes later in the day.

Glen Church broke his boat before the racing but was lucky enough to be lent another before racing started. He broke that too but with the PRO managing to repair it before racing was able to compete for the day.

Racing was ABC start so changed with each start. Early starters were able to make use of the clear air and open a lead on the other competitors. Once they had had their glory they were relegated to the last start and found it hard to catch the leaders.

There were a few incidents on the course but the sailors quickly did their penalties and continued their race. Winds became very light with the odd little puffs of wind rewarding some but not all.

In the end Glen Church became the days winner with his borrowed boat but sailing under his boats number which was a relief to the owner as he didn’t want to receive a higher handicap.

There was a lot of complaints about the wind but no one complained when Brian produced a bottle of rum, to celebrate his birthday, and poured everyone a shot.

A great days sailing and friendship. Ron Campbell PRO
