PRO Bob Auton & RO, Ross Mills. Thirteen staunch sailors turned up today to a cool Southern wind on Lake Victoria.

A simple Windward to Leeward 2 buoy course was set up to try to get to grips on both oscillating (thanks Polly) and variable winds. What surprised us the most was the gusting to flatten and porpoise boats and the fact that rounding each mark all could ‘Run downhill” part of the way with the wind at your back – testament to the unique way the wind moves around the lake at times.

Bob highlighted throughout the sailing today that boats were hitting each other in the stroppy winds and very little in the way of assigning/accepting blame resulting in few penalties. We managed to finish 7 heats, have a quick cuppa and head home before the weather intervened. Thanks & Regards. Bob & Ross.
