We had twelve hardy sailors turn up, with the wind coming from the North-East reasonably strong and gusty.

The ARO Roger Banfield and I set out a lengthy Course with the first mark near the recently trimmed poplars ( thanks to Ron Campbell ), second mark to the N/E corner , a wing mark down the northerly leg, two marks to the west and back to the start finish line. Though it was a MARK  FOY race and long legs, the wind did cause a couple of boats to get hung up with Roger having to get into the dinghy to extract them. It was pleasing to see the small number of infringements were actioned in the spirit of the racing rules.

It was noted Roy Bickerstaffe was trailing some lengthy sections of weed on a number of races though it seemed to enhance his performance with him taking handicap honours and Rodney Ford a close second. In the combined class results despite the 120 and 100 second handicaps Polly took line honours with Dayele hard on his heels.

From an ROs point of view it was a good days sailing despite the tranquillity being punctuated by repetitive hammering sounds coming from the Bunker area. ( all of us will benefit by Warwick’s labour intensive construction endeavours). Regards. Chris Stricker.
