Greetings all,
Yesterday was a busy day, the morning was taken up with the AGM and prizegiving, which was held in the botanical gardens kiosk, a lovely, warm venue, and considering the cold, foggy day it was a boon……..plus the delicious lunchtime snacks from Derek Kraak. So, the sailing master decrees that Derek is exempt from protests for that day. The afternoon was sailing time and we had a good fleet of 18 boats, plus the wind was light to moderate from the NE. Glen was RO assisted by myself, and undoubtedly we did a magnificent job, we had that urn boiling wonderfully on the last heat. Glen set a 2 lap course, and the start system was the 1, 2, 3 starts, 50 seconds apart. With these multiple fleet starts one never knows who is going to be victorious until the computer reveals all, since it is worked out on time, so congratulations to Graham (1st start), Bryan (2nd start) and Ron (3rd start).
I thoroughly uphold Glen’s statement at the briefing, “If he and I were sailing, the rest of them would have no chance” tsk tsk.
No protests were lodged and no arguments marred our behaviour stakes, but the weather was very cold…..until the sun appeared in the last 2 heats.
Glen and I tackled our new voice recorder, and although we could record and playback in fine fashion, the ability to delete has thus far eluded us…….so it is back to the instruction manual.
