Greetings members,

Before we deal with todays racing, and cJ146’s abysmal performance, let me go forth one week to next Saturday. Scheduled are the CMYC EC12 championships under the tender care of Cliff Bishop and Bob Auton, so unless you are sailing EC12’s there will be no other club racing. And, further too, and hitherto the aforesaid announcement, attached are your Sailing Instructions. Note the morning start time.

While we are dealing with those #%^*!(^# boats, Thysje reminded me of an incident at the EC12 South Island champs last Saturday, but we leave it up to you to judge the character and competitive drive of the person inclined. Thysje was appointed to record this magnificently run regatta on camera and during racing an unnamed competitor who was placed 4th and sails No 152 and is in one of the photos, requested that she “photoshopped his frown from the photos”. And to further tarnish his integrity, later asked that “she photoshopped some colour into his grey hair”. Never have I experienced such a level of vanity in a cJ sailor, in fact they would be driven out of the class in an instant. Now I remain blameless in this matter as I have refrained from naming the person and have given no possible clues to his identity.

Now for today…..wind – gusty, shifty, horrible, unpleasant, etc etc. RO’s – Peter Fisher and Peter Bradley wonderful job great, magnificent. Sailors – well behaved no arguments. Podium – Polly again, Jim and Hugh, well sailed in difficult conditions. Results – an absolute masterpiece of technical excellence in extracting and sending forth in very difficult and extreme hardship. Sailing Masters sailing performance – yuk.

Cheers

Tom A
