Today’s event was in honour of long-serving Life Member Norman Hill. Norm passed away 2 years ago at the age of 98. He previously served as Patron and Flag Master. He generously donated the Dinghy which bears his name, and left money in his will which formed a significant part of the funding for Norm’s Shed. It is thanks to the contribution of people like him that the club now runs so well, with such great facilities.
Today Al Ross was Principal Race Officer, along with Jeff Fenwick as Race Officer. The forecast was for a norwester and that is what we got! Some spectacular gusts every now and then, often followed by peaceful calm, which sure kept everyone concentrating. Mark Foy was the order of the day, and 18 sailors turned up to try their luck.
Roy Bickerstaffe amazed us all with a win in every heat, and the handicaps were otherwise quite fair, as the fleet regrouped about ½ way through the 2-lap course. Behaviour was impeccable, with the occasional penalty for an infringement being taken on the spot. Al Ross
