Opening Season: Well the last couple of weeks have been Closing Day followed by Opening Day done & dusted . :-).  Rock on 2025 /2026 season.

A good support Speal by RA Tony Taylor today is following  .  I  must say his commitment today was very very good. Making my pressure position a bit easier. Raising the Flags & lowering .  Clearing the poo from geese & ducks at decking’s and boat at the ready with marks ready to set a viable course.  Not to mention,  look out for my computer  assistant.  22 starters & many more supporter’s too many to mention . NOT much wind,  But spirits of participants & supporters  helped the lack of wind.  😉

What a magnificent opening day for the 2025/2026 season and may bode well for the coming weeks as the day was clear and warm with a gentle southwest breeze (drift). We Started the season with CMYC Secretary Al Ross gathering most of the food & then  Ron (commodore) Bedyn providing his loving touch on  BBQ lunch of sausages ,onions, and bread followed by cakes and biscuits provided by too many to mention.

Treasure Peter Fisher then  counted the entries with the number of boats on the water , which allowed boating to start on time 1.30pm. The race officials ( Grande Prix committee) studied the existing and predicted conditions and used their expert knowledge to set a south westerly course. Forget the normal friendly competitive  Saturday atmosphere you would have thought that they were racing for a pound of NZ Butter though I must admit that there were no serious protests and the VJ Class led by Ron Bedyn followed closely by Graeme Raxworthy took the two top podium placing’s.

Followed by Nick J 258 Nick  helped in so many ways today , Helping with course signage board , Bugle sounding start & finish  , boat putting in & offering in other positions if come available  , Not to mention his Captains hat. Thanks for your commitment to the club Nick.

P.S. In finishing  ……….  I’m looking forward to members adding their fun and personality to the future sailing  debriefs as RO & RA. Spreading the load & sharing your own personality to the fold . Cheers Race Officer to day & Sailing Master in Training. P.S.S. Thanks so much for the member’s help in this role .

Finally into August 2025 . ” You Can’t change the wind , but you can adjust your Sails “
