Greetings CMYC folk,
Attached are yesterdays race results, which with the 3 fleet starts 50 seconds apart was hard to predict the results. Anzan was RO for her first time and did a fine job throughout, from the washing of all the cups and table prior to sailing, setting the course, calling recalls, timing boats in and again washing cups after sailing. I was assistant and we both enjoyed watching the racing because it was quite windy, we were glad not to be out their battling the wind.
Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Let’s start with the bad news. In heat 2 start, the assistant got so excited watching 2 boats across the line early that he omitted to press the computer start button so that heat was not timed, but I can tell you Glen had a comfortable win and was not phased by my negligence. Now for the good news. Doesn’t the clubhouse look marvellous all repainted. Whover completed that job should be canonised. I am struggling to find any connection with racing and painting though.
It was pretty obvious from heat 1 that Dayele had got everything right and was going to be very competitive, as the results shewed, but harder to pick because of different start times was the great results from Derek and Peter Fisher. Congratulations podium finishers Dayele, Graham and Derek. Again our behaviour stakes were not compromised yesterday, well done all sailors.
I thought the hard luck prize of the day should go to Glen. Several times we saw him in a very good position sailing upwind on starboard only to be entangled by a downwind sailing boat not keeping clear, but he did not react viciously, a lesson for us all.
