Greetings CMYC members,

Sailing was the first of the winter sessions at L. Rua. The road was a bit smoother than we have experienced and the vegetation around our normal sailing area has grown enough to make sailing there difficult because the boats are hard to see. However, our intrepid RO’s rose to the occasion and set a windward/leeward course in the clear area at the extreme end of the lake which worked very well. Those gents were, Polly (RO) and Rodney Ford (assist). For the first heat or two the wind was virtually non-existent so the course was cut down to 1 lap, then it increased by .5 of a knot and we had some 2 lap races but then resorted back to 1 lap as the wind lightened. I don’t think we had more than 1.5 knots wind strength all day, and you can see by the results we only managed to sail 5 heats, which meant no discards in the results.

I thought the whole fleet was very close in almost all the races, the distance between 1st and last was not far, and that is good going considering such extremely light conditions, probably the lightest day of the season so far. No arguments or contentions so our good behaviour record is untarnished still.

Congratulations to the podium placers, Dayele, Bruce and myself, the attachment has all the details.
