2011 the ‘Earthquake year’
A series of photos taken at various sailing days while we were at the Groynes, Christchurch, in late 2010 and all of 2011. During this trying year which began with another major quake in February, when many people were stressed, not only with the swarms of aftershocks, but the loss of homes or being faced with massive repairs, it was great to come and sail here to relax and let the cares and worries go away for a while.
In the past the club used to have the odd sailing day at Westlake. During 2011 it became an alternative venue to the Groynes, especially for the IOM class with their long bulb keel, which wasn’t suited to the shallow lakes at the Groynes. Included here are some photos of one of these sailing days.
