Welcome to the Christchurch Model Yacht Club’s Website

Our club was established in 1898, and is New Zealand’s oldest Model Yacht club, and the second oldest in the world. See our History page We boast a strong membership of over 95 members.

Our principal sailing venue is Lake Victoria situated in North Hagley Park, Central Christchurch New Zealand. Lake Rua is used on the first Saturday in the month over winter. The latter is more suitable for fin keeled radio yachts such as the IOM.

We sail regularly, twice a week, Wednesday sailing is a social gathering, with a few laps of the lake, starting in the morning, with a break for lunch, then after lunch a few more laps.
Saturday sees a more competitive side, with racing for Pennants, and both are sailed within the rules of Radio Sailing. Fun is had by all.
